The UMD
9-6900-090 Series of Optical Counter has been
specifically designed for Store counting applications
(traffic monitoring) but can also be used in a variety of
other applications. The system
incorporates two main elements:
Counter Module
This Counter Module incorporates a 4
bit microprocessor which is used to count the number of
"contacts" made on the "Optical Sensor
Input". The program is optimised for typical store
traffic applications (debouncing and delays). The unit is
powered by a 12 Vdc plug pack (supplied with the unit)
and has a DB9 serial interface for interfacing to a RS232
serial port.
Optical Sensors
Reflective optical sensors are used
whereby the light source and receiver are housed in the
one package. An optical reflective surface is used to
reflect the emitted light beam. Two type of Sensor ranges
are available 3 and 8 metre units. Other sensor may be
used.
Operation
Once powered, the Counter Module will
continuously "count" the number of times the
light beam is broken. At approximately every one minute,
the Counter Module will output the Count in ASCII via the
RS232 port for that period. The counter will reset and
continue to count for the next period. The Counter Module
will continue to output the count every period,
ad-infinitem. Options include buzzer or rely contact closure, on interruption of beam.
The Counter Module can be uniquely configured to your customer requirements. Please contact Technical Support to discuss customisation and other options.
