and designed to connect to POS printers such as the Citizen, Epson, Star
range of printers. The Base cash drawers are provided with either,
Modular connector, 4 way connector, or 3 way

(3)Connector type:

Suitable POS printers and interface cables

2-6045-020-9 cable for 2 x Citizen IDP3500 series
2-6111-020-0 cable for UMD ProtoLink

2-5304-010-6 cable for Star printers
2-5317-010-7 cable for early Citizen IDP3500 series
2-6009-010-6 cable for Epson printers

(4) Interface options. UMD installs electronic modules
into the cash drawers for other interface requirements.
There are two modules T type (Trigger) and I type (Intelligent).

T-type (Trigger) These modules are connected to either an RS232 serial or parallel port (dependant on cable only). Any data sent to the port will trigger the cash drawer to open. Both T type drawer and printer may be connected to a single port via a "y" cable. This arrangement is generally suitable for most POS applications as cash drawers opens each time a receipt is printed. Cables for Triggers interfaces are shown below:

2-5158-020-9
2-5178-020-7
2-5184-020-1
2-5185-020-6
2-5225-020-5
2-6098-020-4

Trigger cash drawer to:
PC D9 RS232 serial port
PC D25 RS232 serial port
Terminal auxiliary D25 port
PC parallel port (LPT1)
PC parallel part & parallel printer (Y-cable)
2 x D9 RS232 serial port (2 comp 1 cash drawer)

I-Type (Intelligent). Intelligent cash drawers are used where only a single serial port is available for POS peripherals. The Intelligent cash drawer has one serial port for connection to the host system or PC and a second auxiliary port for attachments to peripherals such as printers. The intelligent cash drawer looks for a specific, user configured, control sequence which opens the cash drawer. All other data is passed through to the auxiliary serial port. Interface cables available are listed below:

2-5210-020-6
2-5211-020-1
2-5231-020-9
